Key Responsibilities
- Maintain repairs and troubleshoot wheeled and power equipment systems to ensure reliability, and meet all local, environmental, and DOT regulations and customer requirements.
- Troubleshoot; determine needs and repairs of non-conforming parts and / or systems.
- Document and maintain paperwork for maintenance according to regulations and company requirements.
- Mechanic will comply with company policy on safety standards, proper uses of equipment, tools, processes and procedures.
- The Mechanic is directly responsible and accountable for meeting their team’s daily production schedule as assigned.
- The mechanic is responsible for the intake and repair of equipment and other duties as assigned by the leads or management.
- Jobs will be fairly and equally assigned with similar expectations and performance by all.
- Establish communication with lead, lead maintenance technician, QA, or supervisor to minimize downtime and maintain constant production levels.
- Documents and maintains paperwork according to regulatory and company requirements, i.e. DOT, fleet information, etc.
- The Mechanic is responsible for communicating equipment issues, needs, and status of repair, delay issues, or vehicle ready for pick-up status.
- This will be done through the lead.
- Maintain acceptable time standards and efficiencies as established by industry standards and communicated by lead maintenance / technician.
- Maintain a clean, safe and productive work environment including 5-S.
- Efficiently and effectively identify problems with equipment / systems, determine the root cause and take corrective action.
- Maintain quality standards on all work that is performed and recognize quality as a key element of customer satisfaction and meeting business goals.
- Work closely with planner to provide information for timely, accurate parts or service procurement.
- Maintain professional relationship and communications with leadership, coworkers, customers, and vendors.
- Identify and procure parts and services required to support repairs.
- Perform any other reasonable request or task as determined.
- Remove barriers for team and equipment performance.
Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Climb, squat, twist, and bend to accomplish necessary repairs.
- Use of respirator as required.
- Able to work any shift.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years' work experience in the light and heavy vehicle repair field.
- Candidate should possess competency in the following required skills:
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures for repairing transport / mechanical equipment systems.
- Knowledge and repair skills for diesel and gasoline engines, drivetrains, hydraulic systems, air brake systems, etc.
- Ability to maintain, repair and troubleshoot systems to assure safe reliable operation and compliance with EPA, DOT, and federal / state regulations and customer requirements.
- Possess all required hand tools, meters, and electronic test devices, etc.
- Physically access all components and equipment to perform inspections and repairs on all types of vehicles.
- Must have competent computer skills for e-mail, parts acquisition, reports and document completion, work order development and processing, etc.

Maintain all safety standards including LOTO, power isolation, and line breaking protocols.
