Position Highlights

PRN - Days Mo-Sa (4am - 5pm) - rotation Sa/Holi

What You Will Do

  • Understands water room equipment operation and function; completes testing and follows up appropriately on abnormal results and completes required documentation.
  • Completes dialysis treatments, initiation and discontinuation from internal accesses and central lines, monitoring of vascular access function and appropriately reports signs of stenosis, occlusion or infection to RN.
  • Uses aseptic technique to initiate and discontinue dialysis on stable patients utilizing CVC access.
  • Performs aseptic CVC dressing change.
  • Assembles and prepares necessary treatment supplies, rinses and primes dialyzer and attaches and installs all required tubing according to unit procedure.
  • Tests and sets parameters according to dialysis prescription.
  • Maintains equipment for safe and proper functioning, responds to alarms and makes appropriate adjustments; including blood flow rates and fluid removal rates.
  • Completes accurate documentation of dialysis access and patient treatment.
  • Observes patient during treatments, notifies RN of any adverse reactions.
  • Responds to dialysis-related emergencies, immediately seeking assistance from RN.
  • Provides technical assistance to nurses and readily follows direction from nurses for hemodialysis treatments.
  • Participates in collaboration with patients, family, physicians, other nursing staff and all ancillary departments.

  • The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
