About the role
The Dialysis Technician performs a variety of basic patient care activities to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, this role involves required monitoring and duties during patient dialysis treatment.
Responsibilities
- Performs basic patient care activities
- Observes patients and reports unusual conditions and/or reactions to RN
- Assists with admission and discharge of dialysis outpatients
- Responds to patient’s needs
- Maintains patient environment, performs routine cleaning tasks
- Documents according to policy
- Performs on-line routine ordering
- Runs errands
- Performs R.O. system start-up, shutdown, and quality checks according to unit policy and procedure
- Performs dialysis machine start-up, shutdown, operation, and disinfection according to unit policy and procedure
- Performs needle cannulation of extremity accesses and dialysis treatments on outpatients under the direct supervision of RN according to unit policy and procedure
- Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification within 18 months of hire
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices
