About the role

The Dialysis Technician performs a variety of basic patient care activities to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, this role involves required monitoring and duties during patient dialysis treatment.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care activities
• Observes patients and reports unusual conditions and/or reactions to RN
• Assists with admission and discharge of dialysis outpatients
• Responds to patient’s needs
• Maintains patient environment, performs routine cleaning tasks
• Documents according to policy
• Performs on-line routine ordering
• Runs errands
• Performs R.O. system start-up, shutdown, and quality checks according to unit policy and procedure
• Performs dialysis machine start-up, shutdown, operation, and disinfection according to unit policy and procedure
• Performs needle cannulation of extremity accesses and dialysis treatments on outpatients under the direct supervision of RN according to unit policy and procedure
• Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
• Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification within 18 months of hire
• Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices
