Dialysis Registered Charge Nurse

About the role

The RN Charge Nurse oversees nursing services each shift and functions as a nursing supervisor, providing daily supervision of staff during operational hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist with clinical and operational processes to improve patient health and minimize hospitalizations and missed treatments.
• Demonstrate effective use of supplies and staff labor hours.
• Complete and document monthly review of patient medication profiles.
• Administer medications as ordered by the physician.
• Assist physician during patient rounds and transcribe and implement physician orders timely.
• Assist with the implementation of anemia management and medication protocols as requested.
• Comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including health care professionals practice act requirements.
• Perform duties within limitations established by company policy and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
• Provide direct patient care, including efficient and safe dialysis, if allowed by state regulations.
• Respond to all emergencies in the clinic.
• Communicate results of patient assessment, reassessment, and ongoing monitoring to the physician, team members, and others as appropriate.
• Maintain a collaborative working relationship with the Medical Director and physicians.
• Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary team in all required patient assessment and care planning activities.
• Assist in the orientation of new staff as a preceptor or by assigning a preceptor.
• Act as a resource person and participate in implementing and evaluating dialysis services, ensuring policies and procedures are updated.
• Assist the Administrator in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplinary actions of center staff.

Requirements

• Current RN license in the applicable state; must be maintained as current and in good standing.
• 12 months of experience in providing nursing care, including 3 months of experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis.
• CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to distinguish all primary colors.
• Demonstrated ability to function in a leadership position and perform in new and emergent situations with sound judgment.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer skills; proficiency in all USRC clinical applications required within 90 days of hire.
• Must meet any practice requirement(s) for the applicable state.
