About the role
As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at U.S. Renal Care, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team providing care and delegated activities of treatment to patients with renal failure, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis treatment to patients, including gathering vital signs before and after treatment, initiating and monitoring treatment, terminating treatment, and collecting blood samples per physician orders.
- Ensure quality and safety by preparing, cleaning, and disinfecting hemodialysis machines, conducting safety checks, logging results, and following all protocols, regulations, and safety measures, including personal protective equipment.
- Serve as a critical member of an interdisciplinary team, participating in patient assessment, care planning, staff meetings, and continuing education while adhering to company policies, procedures, and state/federal laws.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients.
- Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is a plus.
- Must be comfortable mixing acids and bicarbonate according to protocol.
- Ability to distinguish all primary colors.
- Successful completion of USRC training program approved by the Medical Director, including demonstrated competency in hemodialysis theory and practice within 8 weeks of hire.
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire or as required by the state.
- Patient Care Technician certification must be obtained through a state or national program within 18 months of hire and maintained thereafter; specific state requirements may apply.
