Essential Job Functions
- Aids in the medical evaluation of patients pre-dialysis.
- Records patients' vital signs, weight, general condition, and special problems.
- Correctly sets up and operates dialysis equipment.
- Reports equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
- Performs preventive maintenance and quality control.
- Documents and troubleshoots on the EMR.
- Makes safety checks on equipment and initiates and terminates hemodialysis treatments.
- Assists in obtaining lab work and preparing monthly lag tubes for patients.
- Maintains patient vital signs during treatments and alerts licensed staff of any issues.
- Responds to emergencies quickly and efficiently.
- Cleans machines, chairs, and room after each patient and cleans dialysis jugs at the end of the shift.
- Administers lidocaine subcutaneously, heparin sodium, and normal saline intravenously within regulatory guidelines.
- Provides basic care for patients and has knowledge of hemodialysis access.
- Carefully stocks the unit as needed or directed.
- Cares for and uses patient access sites as instructed.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structures.
EQUIPMENT
- Artificial kidney and dialysis delivery systems.
- Standard laboratory testing and sterilizing devices.
Work Environment
Located within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
Required Education/Experience
- Must have Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification or equivalent certification, or must attain certification within 18 months of employment.
- Completion of CMC Dialysis Patient Care Technician on-the-job training program.
- Maintain current CPR and CCHT credentials.
Salary
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
