Dialysis Manager, Area Biomedical

About the Role

The Area Biomedical Manager (ABM) oversees the repair and maintenance of dialysis-related equipment, physical plant upkeep, spare parts purchasing, and inventory control. The ABM supervises technical personnel and programs across dialysis units in assigned region(s).

Responsibilities

• Growth:
  • Oversee the overall technical operation of assigned clinics from fiscal, technical, regulatory, personnel, business management, and growth perspectives in alignment with company goals.
  • Assess and integrate personnel and equipment in acquired clinics.
  • Facilitate installation of dialysis and water-related equipment in new clinics.
  • Manage labor hours to maximize effectiveness and support.
  • Assess repair and maintenance costs and trends to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Ensure purchasing protocols are followed and par levels of supplies and spare parts are adequate.
  • Coordinate internal relocation of spare part inventories to optimize stock utilization and reduce field inventory.
  • Achieve financial targets, including budget, labor costs, supply costs, and expenditures.
• Outcomes:
  • Ensure machines in assigned facilities are maintained according to company policy, manufacturer specifications, AAMI standards, and federal/state regulations.
  • Maintain water systems in compliance with USRC policy, manufacturer specifications, AAMI standards, and state/federal requirements.
  • Review technical-related incident reports, make recommendations, and take appropriate action; report at monthly QAPI meetings.
  • Work with staff to maintain thorough and chronological documentation for equipment and water system maintenance.
  • Develop quality and productivity goals and measures.
  • Assist with developing and implementing processes for regulatory compliance in line with company goals.
• Operational Readiness:
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Perform duties within company policy, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Understand the function and safe operation of water treatment equipment and related mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Familiarize with equipment instruction manuals and operate per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Capable of starting up and shutting down facility equipment if necessary.
  • Monitor and ensure a safe, sanitary physical environment, proper equipment function, and adequate supply inventory.
  • Address physical environment issues impacting patient and staff safety.
  • Oversee maintenance of equipment and supplies to meet current laws and regulations.
  • Maintain established preventative maintenance programs and required documentation.
  • Ensure written documentation for serviced devices is maintained.
  • Assist with Corrective Action Plan development, implementation, and follow-through for internal/external surveys.
  • Plan, coordinate, and approve staffing to meet patient and program needs.
  • Familiarize with all emergency equipment and operational procedures.
  • Use appropriate safety measures, including personal protective equipment.
  • Familiarize with OSHA regulations and ensure Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are updated.
• Partnerships:
  • Lead and promote the company’s mission and philosophy regarding ethics, integrity, safety, and corporate responsibility.
  • Communicate consistently with regional management about clinic statuses.
  • Maintain awareness of contracts and contacts for emergency repairs of clinic equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate major repairs and renovations with outside vendors; obtain quotes from reputable contractors.
  • Attend and present technical summaries in QAPI meetings as needed.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with administrators and regional management.
  • Partner with administrators and regional management to meet clinic needs.
  • Actively promote GUEST customer service standards and develop effective relationships across the organization.
  • Respond effectively to inquiries or concerns.
• Staff Development/Retention:
  • Ensure technical staff meet required qualifications and perform duties within company policies and legal regulations.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and supervise technical personnel in assigned regions.
  • Maintain effective personnel management, including performance evaluations, hours approval, and employee counseling/discipline.
  • Complete initial and annual technical training for clinical and technical staff.
  • Instruct staff on equipment use and care; answer questions.
  • Participate in staff meetings as required.
  • Attend in-service and continuing education offerings per company policy.
  • Uphold corporate management goals by leading staff in team concepts and promoting teamwork.
  • Communicate expectations effectively, accept accountability, and hold others accountable for performance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license in the applicable state; must be maintained without restrictions and with a good driving record.
• 2 years of experience in a technical management role or similar experience managing multi-site locations in dialysis, hospital, or medical environments (preferred).
• Familiarity with dialysis industry standards and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage the maintenance and repair of dialysis and water treatment equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to function in leadership positions and handle emergent situations with sound judgment.
• Ability to distinguish all primary colors.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple locations.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); proficiency in all USRC technical applications required within 90 days of hire.
