Dialysis Clinical Manager Registered Nurse - RN
About the role
As a Clinical Manager with Fresenius Medical Care, you will ensure that quality patient care is delivered while maintaining clinical operations. As the facility leader, you will be part of a close-knit, collaborative team responsible for delivering unique care plans and providing dialysis treatment to patients facing end-stage renal disease or chronic kidney disease.

Purpose and scope
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the facility, ensuring cost-effective operations in accordance with all legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with the Medical Director and the Clinical Manager/Charge Nurse to provide quality patient care, incorporating all activities from admission through discharge. As the clinic leader, you have the authority to make daily decisions to ensure continuity of care and patient and staff safety. Market available services through presentations to physicians and dialysis facilities.
Responsibilities
- Clinic Operations:
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development plans for all direct reports.
- Partner with internal Human Resources, Quality, Education, and Technical Services departments.
- Collaborate with the Home Therapies Program Manager to oversee the facility’s Home Therapies Program.
- Maintain integrity of medical and operations records and comply with all data collection and auditing activities.
- Complete Internal Classification of Disease (ICD) coding.
- Manage required network reporting and on-site state or federal surveys.
- Execute short- and long-term objectives through coordination of activities, including costs, methods, and staffing.
- Administer daily business operations, including staff management, patient care quality, physical plant and equipment maintenance, and inventory control.
- Manage profit and loss and other financial aspects to achieve or exceed budget and key performance indicators.
- Patient Care:
- Coordinate all aspects of patient care with staff, from admission through discharge.
- Act as a resource for patients and families to address concerns and questions.
- Oversee timely completion of patient care assessments and care plans.
- Manage patient schedules to ensure facility efficiency and develop action plans for missed treatments.
- Report changes in patient status regarding clinical, insurance, or travel and transportation issues.
- Staff:
- Participate in the selection and hiring of new team members and ensure completion of new hire orientation and mandatory training.
- Ensure all patient care employees complete appropriate training and maintain current licensures/certifications.
- Provide support for clinical staff and encourage professional growth.
- Maintain current knowledge of company benefits, policies, procedures, and processes.
- Obtain clinical feedback for employee evaluations, establish annual goals, and conduct evaluations.
- Document disciplinary actions and confer with the clinic Director of Operations and Human Resources as needed.
- Manage staff scheduling and payroll.
- Physicians:
- Facilitate the application process for physician privileges and compliance with Fresenius Medical Care Medical Staff By-Laws.
- Maintain strong physician relationships and ensure regular and effective communication.
- Participate in the Governing Body, an interdisciplinary team for each region.
- Other:
- Collaborate with the Clinical Manager/Charge RN, Medical Director, and physicians to ensure outstanding quality of patient care and compliance with company policies.
- Coordinate all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge, address patient concerns, and review patient satisfaction surveys.
- Develop and communicate efficient patient schedules to maximize facility efficiency.
- Implement and maintain a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Process and Quality Assessment and Improvement Program (QAPI).
- Ensure compliance with Federal and State laws through regular review of center operations.
- Develop and maintain strong Medical Director and physician relationships.
- Support and drive FMS quality standards through regulatory compliance and CQI practices.
- Oversee and monitor appropriate training according to FMS policy to ensure compliance with risk management initiatives.
- Ensure all Quality policies and procedures are communicated and implemented by facility staff.
- Maintain integrity of medical records and administrative/operational records.
- Manage day-to-day activities and workload of facility staff, providing guidance and leadership.
- Create, maintain, and communicate efficient employee schedules according to facility staffing needs.
- Provide informal and formal feedback to staff, including annual performance evaluations.
- Manage department staffing through hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure successful execution of new hire orientation, training, and mandatory in-services.
- Ensure appropriate documentation for licensure, annual in-services, and policy updates.
- Provide training and guidance to develop clinical competencies and encourage professional growth.
- Maintain a close working relationship with Division and Corporate office personnel.
- Utilize knowledge of FMCNA and FMS services to contribute to business growth.
- Maintain facility environmental integrity and safety, including equipment and physical plant maintenance.
- Coordinate inventory and supply management to ensure cost containment and timely distribution.
- Ensure efficient utilization of medication, laboratory, inventory, supplies, and equipment.
- Contribute to the development and revision of facility policies and procedures.
- Direct information gathering to support billing, billing issues, and collection activities.
- Coordinate and approve facility payroll.
- Participate in all on-site internal and external (state and federal) surveys.
- Review new and existing provider contracts for vendor services.

Supervises Charge RN and DPC Staff.
