Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic sonographic imaging through the application of non-ionizing, high-frequency sound waves for patients of all ages.
  • Perform ultrasound studies (i.e. obstetrical, GYN, abdominal, retro peritoneal, small parts, pediatric, and vascular).
  • Consult with referring physicians regarding patients' medical history and selection of appropriate procedures and equipment required for proper diagnosis.
  • Review charts, previous reports and requisition prior to the exam.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Absorb and maintain proper function of ultrasound equipment and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
  • Complete after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
  • Immediately report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Process billing via RIS.
  • Adequately supply exam rooms with linen and related medical supplies.
  • Assist with clinical instruction of ultrasound students and residents and in-service education of caregivers.
  • Assist with orienting new caregivers to the equipment, department procedures and scanning protocols.
  • Demonstrate ultrasound equipment for caregivers and visitors.
  • Potentially rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations.
  • Assist in new investigative techniques, procedures and equipment.
  • Maintain the most up to date knowledge in the field through self-motivated education and attendance of appropriate conferences and symposiums.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and in good standing.
  • Two years of recent modality experience.
  • OBGYN/Women’s Health Institute: Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within one year of hire.
  • Imaging Institute: Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) or RT(VS) upon hire.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate of an accredited school in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and in good standing. Two years of recent modality experience. OBGYN/Women’s Health Institute: Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within one year of hire. Certification within OB/GYN (RDMS, OB/GYN) must be obtained within one year of hire. Must have completed specialized training in Maternal Fetal Medicine. Imaging Institute: Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) or RT(VS) upon hire. Must have one certification within Abdominal (RDMS, AB), OB/GYN (RDMS, OB/GYN) or Vascular (RVT, VT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) upon hire.

Skills

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).

Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $35.25 Maximum hourly: $53.00

Schedule

Days, 8:00am—4:30pm or 8:30am—5:00pm
