The Department of Radiology Health Physics at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA, is seeking a non-tenure line Diagnostic Medical Physicist (Assistant Professor).

About the role

This position will provide physics support for a customizable selection of modalities (radiographic, fluoroscopic, CT, ultrasound, mammographic, MR, or nuclear medicine/PET imaging). Some experience with MR and MR safety is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced imaging clinical support
  • Acceptance testing
  • Supervision of physicist assistants
  • Quality assurance oversight
  • Education/training of technologists, physicist assistants, medical residents, and physicians
  • ACR accreditation support
  • Radiation shielding and dosimetry calculations
  • Clinical research support
  • Routine performance testing

Requirements

  • Graduate degree (MS, DMP, or PhD) in medical physics or a related discipline
  • At least two years of experience in clinical diagnostic radiology/nuclear medicine physics (including residency, if applicable)
  • Board certification or eligibility in Diagnostic Medical Physics from the American Board of Radiology

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational, project management, and written/oral communication skills

Skills

  • Experience with MR and MR safety is preferred

Schedule

The position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
