About the Role
Northside Hospital is an award-winning, state-of-the-art healthcare system continually expanding the quality and reach of care to patients and communities. This role provides nutrition and diabetes education, performing duties in designated areas where expertise will be best utilized. Responsibilities include assisting the Service Coordinator/Manager with departmental support of Registered Dietitians (RDs) and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, as well as other departmental operations as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and implements nutrition and diabetes education care plans that are age-specific and culturally relevant, in accordance with departmental policy and standards of care.
- Serves as a resource to other health professionals in the specified area of expertise for patient care delivery and departmental continuous Quality Improvement.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and weekend call if and when assigned.
- Completes required continuing education in compliance with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) recognized program requirements, including fifteen (15) hours of continuing education each year.
Requirements
- Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Current licensure as a Dietitian in the State of Georgia.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES) within two (2) years of hire.
- Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific education principles.
- Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, & Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of clinical experience.
- Public speaking experience.
- Master’s degree in a nutrition-related subject.
