About the role
The position is part-time, working 24 hours per week on a Day Schedule. The diabetes educator provides education for clients with diabetes of all ages, focusing on individualized needs through assessments, plan development, implementation, and evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct health and education assessments for clients with diabetes.
- Develop and implement education plans considering psychosocial, economic, and language barriers.
- Evaluate education plans to ensure effectiveness.
- Collaborate with a team of RNs and RDs in both classroom and individual outpatient settings.
- Engage in professional development and community outreach as part of professional practice.
Requirements
- Current Oregon Dietitian License and National CDR Registered Dietitian license upon hire.
- Three (3) years of experience in treating and educating clients with diabetes within the last two years.
- Experience with current adult learning theories in relation to diabetes education.
- Experience with the clinical management of diabetes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal coursework or credentials in principles of adult learning theory and patient-centered learning.
- Certification in Diabetes Education, or willingness to obtain CDE certification upon hire.
- Experience with diverse ethnic groups.
