DevSecOps Engineer

About the role

Piper Companies is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to support the automation, security, and deployment of cloud-based infrastructure for a growing technology-focused organization. This long-term contract opportunity requires onsite work 1 day per week in RTP, NC, and is ideal for an early-career professional with strong Python development skills, a passion for automation, and experience working with modern DevOps and security practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python scripts and tools to automate infrastructure, deployment, and security processes.
• Support the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines for application delivery.
• Assist with cloud infrastructure provisioning and management in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
• Collaborate with software engineers and security teams to implement DevSecOps best practices.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot deployment issues, and optimize operational workflows.
• Support vulnerability scanning, remediation efforts, and security compliance initiatives.
• Utilize Infrastructure as Code tools to automate environment deployments and configurations.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or a related role.
• Strong hands-on Python programming experience with a focus on automation and scripting.
• Experience working in Linux environments and with command-line tools.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools including GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, and secure software development practices.

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 - $88,000 depending on experience
