About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive DevOps Engineer II to join our FOLIO Operations team, supporting large-scale, cloud-based library platforms. This role is integral to maintaining resilient infrastructure, automating operational workflows, and ensuring high availability of mission-critical systems within a multi-tenant SaaS environment. The successful candidate will work on the FOLIO Library Management System, an open-source, cloud-native platform designed to meet the needs of modern libraries with a modular, microservices architecture. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative library solutions, collaborate across teams, and support global institutions. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens eligible for a government security clearance and possess a passion for building scalable, reliable, and efficient cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and willingness to obtain a security clearance
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in AWS operations and support, including ECS, S3, PostgreSQL, and Lambda
- Proficiency in Docker containerization and CI/CD pipelines, particularly Jenkins
- Strong skills in Java, Groovy, and scripting languages
- Experience with microservices and serverless architectures
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as JIRA and JSM
- Excellent communication, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple products simultaneously (preferably 2-3 systems)
- Willingness to work during US Eastern business hours (8-5)
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain highly scalable production systems across multiple platforms including FOLIO, LOCATE, and MetaDB in a dynamic environment
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues with a focus on system reliability and performance optimization
- Develop and enhance automation workflows utilizing Java, Groovy, and scripting to streamline operations
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure leveraging AWS services such as CloudFormation, ECS, S3, PostgreSQL, Route53, CloudFront, Load Balancers, and Lambda
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and deployment workflows using Jenkins and related tools
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system availability and incident response readiness
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support customer environments at scale, ensuring high service quality
- Assist in managing API gateway and authentication layers, including Kong and Keycloak
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements using AI and automation techniques to enhance efficiency
