DevOps Engineer

About the role

AEG is seeking a Systems Engineer (DevOps) to support a Managed DevOps team in designing, building, deploying, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and automation solutions. This Engineer 2 role focuses on cloud infrastructure, automation, security, CI/CD, and operational excellence while solving complex technical and business problems. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert on complex technical assignments, collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer needs, and deliver reliable solutions aligned with customer and product requirements. The role requires hands-on experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, scripting, Linux, troubleshooting, and security-focused engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert and represent the team on complex technical assignments.
• Gather requirements and evaluate technology effectiveness through testing, research, and analysis.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain infrastructure in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure environments.
• Develop and support CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven, and Gradle.
• Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform and HCL.
• Create and maintain automation scripts using Groovy, Linux shell scripting, and/or Python.
• Identify and implement improvements that increase team efficiency and delivery quality.
• Ensure infrastructure solutions meet security, compliance, performance, and cost requirements.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and perform root cause analysis; drive issues toward timely resolution.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer needs and deliver solutions aligned with expectations.
• Incorporate security considerations into technical decisions and daily responsibilities.
• Support continuous improvement of cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps practices.

Required Qualifications

• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools, including Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven, and/or Gradle.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Groovy, Linux shell, and/or Python.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code tools, including Terraform and HCL.
• Experience building and maintaining infrastructure in AWS and/or Azure.
• Working knowledge of Linux user interfaces and command-line tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to triage issues and determine root cause.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Commitment to incorporating security into technical decisions and daily work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
• Experience managing web application platforms such as Java environments running on Tomcat, WebSphere, or JBoss.
• AWS or Azure cloud certifications.
• Knowledge of content management systems such as Adobe Experience Manager or Drupal.
• Familiarity with open-source automation tools such as Chef or Ansible.
• General understanding of DNS, firewalls, routing, and certificate management.
