Responsibilities
- Create DevOps strategy for Linux and Windows distributions using tools such as Subversion (SVN), Git, CVS, ANT, Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo, Chef, Puppet, Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Nexus, Artifactory, Nagios, and Splunk in both traditional and cloud environments (AWS, OpenStack, Azure, PCF).
- Set up AWS CloudWatch for monitoring EC2 instance state changes, Auto Scaling lifecycle events, instance launch/terminate notifications, scheduled events, AWS API calls, and console sign-in events via AWS CloudTrail.
- Work with AWS services including EC2, ELB, Auto-Scaling, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Lambda, Elastic Cache, Glacier, SNS, SQS, CloudFormation, CloudFront, Beanstalk, EMR, and AWS Workspaces.
- Migrate traditional on-premises infrastructure to AWS, hosting 30+ applications and 20+ AWS services.
- Upgrade CLI plugins using Auto-scale/Diego and perform PCF backups using CFOP’s.
- Create Terraform modules for two-tier architecture, including AWS resources like VPC, subnets, security groups, EC2, load balancers, Auto Scaling groups, CloudWatch alarms, ECS clusters, and S3 buckets for logs.
- Write CloudFormation templates in JSON to deploy custom VPCs, subnets, and NAT for web applications.
- Write Chef recipes for deployments on internal data center servers.
- Write Ansible playbooks using YAML for configuration management and orchestration, and deploy web application server code.
- Configure and manage Puppet master servers, create and update modules, and push them to Puppet clients.
- Work with Docker for container-based deployments, including Dockerfiles, images, containers, and Docker Hub. Install and configure Kubernetes for clustering, creating pods, ConfigMaps, and deployments.
- Design distributed private cloud solutions using Kubernetes on CoreOS.
- Design and create CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, TeamCity, and Bamboo to automate deployments and shorten deployment cycles.
- Manage branching, tagging, and version control using Git on Linux and Windows platforms.
- Use build tools like ANT and Maven to create deployable artifacts (JAR, WAR, EAR).
- Monitor infrastructure using Nagios, including setting up event handlers for automatic restarts of failed applications and services.
- Troubleshoot Splunk performance and log monitoring issues, create dashboards, data models, and use New Relic to track API calls for database deadlocks and exceptions.
- Write scripts in Bash, Perl, Shell, Ruby, and Python, including Python scripts for pushing data from MongoDB to MySQL.
- Deploy and manage HTTP web servers, Apache Tomcat, and JBoss in clustered environments with load balancing.
- Perform Linux/Unix system administration tasks, including system builds, server builds, installations, upgrades, patches, migration, and troubleshooting on RHEL.
- Apply Software Configuration Management (SCM) best practices in Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.
