About the role
As a DevOps Engineer, you will support the sustainment, maintenance, and ongoing enhancement of the NOME environment. You will collaborate with engineering, development, security, and operations teams to ensure successful integration of new capabilities while working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform system maintenance, updates, configuration changes, and troubleshooting across DevOps infrastructure and tooling.
- Support the development and integration of new capabilities and environments.
- Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and efficient software delivery.
- Support AWS architecture, infrastructure, and cloud-based environments.
- Work extensively within Linux environments to administer, troubleshoot, automate, and optimize systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve system architecture, performance, reliability, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical recommendations for architectural improvements and modernization.
- Implement and maintain security hardening measures in accordance with applicable security requirements.
- Support security assessments, remediation activities, and preparation for ATO.
- Ensure system configurations and processes align with applicable NGA security requirements and standards.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and deployment issues and develop sustainable solutions.
- Contribute to documentation, technical processes, and best practices supporting NOME sustainment and development.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance required.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 15+ years of professional experience in DevOps, systems engineering, cloud engineering, infrastructure, or a related technical field.
- Security+ certification required.
- Strong experience with Linux operating systems and administration.
- Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with AWS architecture and cloud environments.
- Experience supporting system sustainment, maintenance, configuration, and upgrades in complex environments.
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles, automation, infrastructure management, and software delivery practices.
- Ability to identify technical risks and recommend practical architectural and operational improvements.
- Experience working in environments with stringent security and compliance requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary technical team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Skills
Additional skills we'd like to see:
- Familiarity with NGA systems, mission environments, and security requirements.
- Previous experience supporting NGA programs or environments.
- Experience preparing systems for ATO and supporting RMF-related activities.
- Experience with security hardening and vulnerability remediation in Linux and AWS environments.
- Experience with AWS infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience with tools and technologies supporting automated deployment, configuration management, monitoring, and infrastructure provisioning.
- Experience integrating existing systems with new capabilities and environments.
- Experience providing architectural recommendations and driving improvements in system efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
- Experience working in an IC or other highly regulated government environment.
