Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and improve Infrastructure as Code repositories.
- Support automated deployment of cloud infrastructure, network components, compute resources, access controls, storage resources, and monitoring components.
- Maintain Git-based change control for infrastructure and system configuration.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment, validation, testing, and release control.
- Support configuration management and automated hardening where applicable.
- Develop reusable modules, templates, playbooks, scripts, and pipeline jobs.
- Integrate change management workflows with Git, GitLab, Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or similar tools.
- Maintain branching strategies, merge request processes, approval workflows, and release tagging.
- Support environment promotion from development to test, staging, pilot, and production.
- Develop rollback strategies for infrastructure and configuration changes.
- Support secrets management, certificate handling, access tokens, and credential protection.
- Participate in security reviews, code reviews, architecture reviews, and deployment readiness reviews.
- Aid teams in adopting DevOps practices without sacrificing operational stability or compliance.
- Show strong attention to detail in code, configuration, syntax, and change documentation.
- Work closely with engineers who may not be automation experts.
- Enforce standards for code review, documentation, and approval.
- Balance automation speed with operational risk.
- Create and deliver system status updates to customers and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Ability to explain DevOps workflows to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong written communication for runbooks, README files, and deployment guides.
- Strong documentation discipline.
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with: Infrastructure as Code principles and practices, Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows, CI/CD pipeline design and execution, change management and release management in controlled environments, configuration management and repeatable deployment practices, Linux and Windows system administration fundamentals, cloud infrastructure deployment concepts, secret management, environment variables, certificate handling, and secure credential practices.
- Practical experience with several of the following: Python, Bash, PowerShell, HCL for Terraform/OpenTofu, YAML, JSON, Go or JavaScript/TypeScript (preferred but not required), SQL (helpful for backend automation and reporting).
- Self-starter with a strong sense of personal responsibility.
- 10 years' relevant technical experience in DevOps, systems engineering, cloud engineering, automation, infrastructure engineering, or configuration management.
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field (e.g., cybersecurity, computer science, computer engineering).
- Preferred certifications: HashiCorp Terraform Associate, AWS DevOps Engineer, AWS SysOps Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Red Hat Certified Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, CompTIA Linux+, Security+, Cloud+, GitLab Certified Associate or Professional Services certifications.

- Clearance requirements: Must possess a Top Secret (TS) security clearance (with SCI and SAP eligibility).
