Development Writer/Content Creator - Content Monetization Team

Responsibilities

• Write clear, accurate and reader-focused home services content across a variety of formats, including guides, comparisons and reviews.
• Conduct research using credible sources, data and expert insights to ensure accuracy and authority.
• Follow USA TODAY editorial guidelines, commerce standards and disclosure requirements.
• Collaborate with editors to revise and optimize content for clarity, accuracy and search performance.
• Update existing content as needed to maintain accuracy and relevance.
• Maintain a fast-paced digital newsroom environment by meeting deadlines and managing multiple assignments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience writing about home services, personal finance, or small-business topics.
• Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, approachable way.
• Familiarity with SEO-driven service journalism and digital publishing best practices.
• Familiarity with the latest developments in Generative Engine Optimization.
• Strong research and fact-checking skills.
• Experience working in a newsroom, digital media organization or commerce content environment.

Skills

This role requires strong research skills, the ability to translate industry jargon into accessible language, and experience writing optimized digital content that performs well in search while maintaining editorial credibility.

Pay

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $50,500 and $78,906. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience.

Schedule

This role is remote and can be based anywhere in the US, except for Alaska, Hawaii and Wyoming.
