About the Role

Participates with technical personnel (in maintenance, operations, production, R&D activities, and other related functions) analyzing and evaluating technical problems, developing experimental outlines, scheduling procedural steps, and establishing priorities. Independently conducts tests, experiments, and analyses. Operates and troubleshoots equipment and gathers, reduces, evaluates, and interprets data. Prepares reports and procedures, and may direct the work of others.

The technician will be assigned full time to support Development hands-on activities involving ceramics, polymers, and uranium process development from bench to pilot scale. Other activities involve housekeeping, lab clean-up, and rudimentary experiments during periods of project downtime. He/she will maintain a high standard for safety and housekeeping.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
  • Associate's degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Requires a Q clearance; ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required
  • This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712)
  • May be categorized as a “designated position” identified by 10 C.F.R. Part 709, requiring successful completion of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation that may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination
  • U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance applicants
