About the role
The Development Site Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections at residential, commercial, and industrial construction sites to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and Fulton County codes, standards, and construction provisions.
Responsibilities
- Interprets and enforces ordinances and codes related to land disturbance, soil erosion, and sediment control of new and existing construction at residential, commercial, and industrial construction sites.
- Cleans up and repairs damaged property caused by construction activities.
- Conducts inspections of each component of site plans, including sanitary sewer pipe and manholes, curb and gutter installation, road construction, erosion control devices, traffic improvements, and street name signs.
- Notifies responsible contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, or homeowners of code violations; discusses corrective options; issues citations; makes recommendations for stop work orders if necessary; documents findings and recommended solutions.
- Administers maintenance and performance bonds for site development; calculates amount of performance bond(s) as required for each project; maintains bond documents; inspects completed work; and returns bonds that meet standards.
- Inspects and approves construction and installation of streets, street signs, street striping, curb, gutter, sidewalk, storm drains, and sanitary sewers as assigned.
- Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.
- Maintains a current, comprehensive knowledge and awareness of applicable laws, regulations, principles, and practices relating to site development, soil and erosion control, and construction procedures.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in or a related field required; supplemented by five years of experience in civil engineering, road construction, or construction inspection.
- Must possess and maintain valid certifications and training in the following: Georgia Soil & Water Conservation Commission Level I B Certified Inspector within one year of employment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
