About the role

The Development Project Engineer (Data Center Construction) plays a crucial role in the design, preconstruction, and construction phases of various projects. This position requires strong communication skills and a deep understanding of commercial construction practices.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the development program for sites, including campus design solutions and capital budgets.
  • Manage entitlement and permitting processes for each assigned site project.
  • Coordinate scopes of work for design, construction, commissioning services, and procurement.
  • Evaluate and negotiate pricing for design, construction, and commissioning services.
  • Ensure compliance with construction security procedures and establish relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain relationships to enhance QTS’s leadership in data center real estate.
  • Aid in due diligence efforts on potential or new land banks and properties.
  • Support internal development team in enhancing project management processes and protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management field or equivalent professional experience.
  • One or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proven team player with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • Basic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically PowerPoint for program updates and Excel for budget maintenance.
  • One or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures.
  • Experience or exposure in mission critical data center facilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of solving problems at a tactical and functional level.

Skills

  • Management of Lump Sum, Construction Management @ Risk, and Design Build project delivery methods.
  • Experience with MEP trades.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
