About the role
The Development Project Engineer (Data Center Construction) plays a crucial role in the design, preconstruction, and construction phases of various projects. This position requires strong communication skills and a deep understanding of commercial construction practices.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the development program for sites, including campus design solutions and capital budgets.
- Manage entitlement and permitting processes for each assigned site project.
- Coordinate scopes of work for design, construction, commissioning services, and procurement.
- Evaluate and negotiate pricing for design, construction, and commissioning services.
- Ensure compliance with construction security procedures and establish relationships with key stakeholders.
- Create and maintain relationships to enhance QTS’s leadership in data center real estate.
- Aid in due diligence efforts on potential or new land banks and properties.
- Support internal development team in enhancing project management processes and protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management field or equivalent professional experience.
- One or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
- Proven team player with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Basic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management field or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically PowerPoint for program updates and Excel for budget maintenance.
- One or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures.
- Experience or exposure in mission critical data center facilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of solving problems at a tactical and functional level.
Skills
- Management of Lump Sum, Construction Management @ Risk, and Design Build project delivery methods.
- Experience with MEP trades.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
