About the role

The Development Engineer will join the municipal services program team at DDG, a comprehensive design firm with over 200 full-time employees and 10 offices across South Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the review of plans and design for development within the municipality, including project permits and planning cases.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other municipal departments to ensure timely and quality completion of project reviews.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on development regulation and processes to municipal departments and the public.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, urban planners, and environmental specialists to develop integrated solutions for development.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for municipal leadership, regulatory agencies, and the public.
  • Participate in public meetings and workshops to discuss development projects, issues, studies, and development proposals with community residents and other stakeholders.
  • Review, update, and enhance the City’s Standards, Specifications, and Code to ensure they reflect best practices and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, Engineering Intern (EI) license required.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in design and/or permitting of land development projects.
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations regarding stormwater management.

Qualifications

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel to various project sites.
  • Ability to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
