Development Director - Podiatric Medicine, Health Sciences and Community Engagement

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy and Gift Planning, the Development Director will drive fundraising efforts for podiatric medicine, health sciences, and community engagement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from $25,000 to six figures from alumni, supporters, and community members.
• Manage a portfolio of 100 prospects, building relationships through all phases of the giving cycle to increase annual revenue.
• Develop and execute fundraising strategies, including prospect visits, asks, and goal achievement.
• Organize engagement activities with faculty, staff, leadership, and board members to support campaign pillars: scholarships, campus development, and community impact.
• Coordinate communication plans, donor correspondence, and stewardship updates, maintaining detailed records in Raiser's Edge NXT.
• Collaborate with deans, faculty, and advancement colleagues to align fundraising priorities and facilitate events.
• Represent the organization at events, engaging donors and prospects, and work with Advancement Services for database updates.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of funding priorities and effectively communicate the case for support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years in fundraising or a related field, with experience cultivating five-figure gifts or higher.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Monday.com, Teams, Thankview, and Workday; database management experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends and travel, primarily within California.
• Knowledge of the organization’s mission and regional communities is a plus.

Work Environment

Onsite in Oakland, requiring regular in-office presence in a dynamic academic setting to support collaboration and team engagement.
