About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy and Gift Planning, the Development Director will drive fundraising efforts for podiatric medicine, health sciences, and community engagement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from $25,000 to six figures from alumni, supporters, and community members.
- Manage a portfolio of 100 prospects, building relationships through all phases of the giving cycle to increase annual revenue.
- Develop and execute fundraising strategies, including prospect visits, asks, and goal achievement.
- Organize engagement activities with faculty, staff, leadership, and board members to support campaign pillars: scholarships, campus development, and community impact.
- Coordinate communication plans, donor correspondence, and stewardship updates, maintaining detailed records in Raiser's Edge NXT.
- Collaborate with deans, faculty, and advancement colleagues to align fundraising priorities and facilitate events.
- Represent the organization at events, engaging donors and prospects, and work with Advancement Services for database updates.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of funding priorities and effectively communicate the case for support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years in fundraising or a related field, with experience cultivating five-figure gifts or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Monday.com, Teams, Thankview, and Workday; database management experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends and travel, primarily within California.
- Knowledge of the organization’s mission and regional communities is a plus.
Work Environment
Onsite in Oakland, requiring regular in-office presence in a dynamic academic setting to support collaboration and team engagement.
