About the Role
The Development Coordinator assists the Associate Executive Director in planning and implementing all fundraising and special event activities, as well as community relations.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and implement all aspects of fundraising events (i.e. Rail Trail 10-Miler, The Arc Ball and Auction, Direct Mail Campaign)
- Maintain The Arc of York and Adams Counties membership base
- Manage and maintain the donor database (including mailing lists, donations, events)
- Record and acknowledge contributions to The Arc of York and Adams Counties
- Attend Development committees and subcommittee meetings
- Assist Associate Executive Director in the acquisition of sponsorships and major gifts
- Provide assistance as needed for third-party events and fundraisers
- Attend any organization-related community relations activity as it pertains to or benefits The Arc of York and Adams Counties
- Speak as a United Way “Storyteller” on behalf of The Arc of York County
- Assist the Associate Executive Director in grant research and writing
- Relief for Receptionist during breaks, lunch, etc.
- Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Ability to engage donors and prospects verbally and in writing with sincerity and enthusiasm
- Knowledge of geography of York and Adams Counties is helpful, but not required
- Ability to work together with other staff as a team member
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Mastery of English language
- Basic math skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
- Proficiency in donor databases
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
- Ability to educate others effectively
- Very good oral and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills that put people at ease
- Network with professionals from other organizations in the best interests of the client and The Arc of York and Adams Counties

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and/or move at least 15 lbs
- Frequently required to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, reach, extend, lift, and carry weights
- Frequently use hands to finger, handle, and reach with arms and hands below or at the waist level and above shoulder height
- Able to pull, push, lift, or carry
- Able to stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl
- Constantly able to talk or communicate, hear, taste, or smell
- Specific vision abilities may include close vision and color vision, with the ability to adjust focus
- Exposed to all outside weather conditions (including but not limited to sun, rain, heat, cold, snow, etc.), dust, and fumes while working
- Moderate noise level, rarely loud
Qualifications
- At least three (3) years’ experience in development and fundraising activities in a non-profit setting
Background checks required: Child Line Pennsylvania State Police, FBI Finger Printing, DMV. Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License, car insurance, and vehicle registration required.
