Developer IV- Devops Engineer

Location: Columbia, SC (Preferred hybrid – minimum 3 days per week onsite; remote may be considered if needed). Employment Type: Contract. Interview Process: Remote.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Python Developer to join a broader cloud modernization effort. You will design, build, and migrate Python-based services, working closely with cloud engineers and architects to move systems, data, and applications into a modern cloud environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing systems and plan their migration to the cloud
• Rewrite or refactor legacy components into Python
• Build cloud-native services and APIs and integrate them into the target cloud environment
• Implement CI/CD automation
• Build new Python modules and optimize performance
• Write unit and integration tests
• Support deployment activities in the cloud
• Ensure seamless migration of data, services, and application components
• Collaborate closely with cloud engineers and architects

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or another job-related field
• Equivalency: 4 years of job-related work experience, or 2 years of job-related experience plus an associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Experience: Minimum 6 years of application development, systems testing, or other job-related experience

Skills

• Advanced proficiency in Python
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
• API development and integration
• CI/CD and DevOps tooling (GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar)
• Nice to have: Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Nice to have: Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM)
• Nice to have: Experience refactoring or rewriting legacy systems
