Our client operates within the publishing industry, producing adult and children's books across various genres and subjects. They deliver quality, diverse, and innovative published content through a broad network of nearly 300 publishing brands and imprints internationally, including regions such as North America and the United Kingdom.

About the Opportunity

The Developer, Applied AI will focus on building and maintaining AI-enabled applications that enhance how internal business teams access and utilize enterprise data. This role is pivotal in applying practical AI and cloud technologies to improve internal processes and solve business challenges. You will work closely with stakeholders to design, develop, and support secure and reliable AI-driven solutions that meet evolving organizational needs.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and enhance AI-enabled backend applications using Python
• Develop and support cloud-based solutions primarily within Microsoft Azure
• Integrate generative AI and large language model capabilities into enterprise applications
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend technical approaches
• Design, test, and deploy applications ensuring security and maintainability
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues using diagnostic tools
• Participate in code reviews and follow Git-based development workflows

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience with strong Python skills
• Experience with cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Development of REST APIs and backend services using frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask
• Practical experience with generative AI or large language models
• Familiarity with AI application patterns like prompt design, retrieval workflows, or document processing
• Experience with Azure services such as Functions, OpenAI, AI Search, Document Intelligence, and related
• Knowledge of AI frameworks like LangChain and structured-output tools such as Pydantic or JSON Schema
• Proficient with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation
• Ability to troubleshoot using logs and monitoring tools
• Working knowledge of SQL and enterprise data sources
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders
