About the role
The role is responsible for managing the library's collection of rare and historic documents, ensuring their preservation and accessibility.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the cataloging and digitization of historical materials
- Maintain the physical and digital collections in accordance with archival standards
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance user engagement with historical resources
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the integration of historical resources into educational programs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in archives or similar field
- Experience with digital preservation techniques
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Knowledge of archival principles and practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of copyright laws and fair use
Skills
- Expertise in using archival software
- Experience with metadata standards such as MARC and Dublin Core
- Knowledge of digital preservation tools and technologies
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
