Detention Officer

About the role

As a Detention Officer, you'll be entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the welfare, confinement, and management of individuals within the city jail. This role requires a combination of empathy, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to upholding principles of justice and fairness.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the safety and security of detainees
• Manage and maintain detention facilities
• Ensure compliance with legal and departmental policies
• Provide emotional support and guidance to detainees
• Handle emergencies and crisis situations
• Interact with the public and other law enforcement agencies

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Texas driver’s license
• Successful completion of a background check
• Ability to pass a physical fitness test
• Pass a drug screening

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, or a related field preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in law enforcement or corrections
• Proven ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Pay

The hourly salary range for this position is from $21.779247 to $30.490946.
