Detention Officer
Essential Duties
Ensures the safety and security of arrestees, prisoners and the general public.
Transports prisoners to and from the County jail and City court facilities.
Aids officers with intake and booking processes and Releases prisoners from jail upon court orders for release or secured bond.
Oversees the general care and custody of arrestees and detainees and conducts holding facility inspections.
Minimum Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED;
- One (1) year experience in customer service;
- Successful completion of Arizona POST recognized County or State Detention Officer Certification within six (6) months of hire or promotion;
- The ability to comply with Arizona POST firearms requirements;
- A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record;
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

This position does not supervise others.

Pay
An initial work schedule of 3/12 then 4/12 is anticipated. A 12-month probationary period is required for this position.
Schedule
The Chandler Police Detention Unit is open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, including weekends and holidays.
