Detention Education Specialist - Probation

This position is located in Florida and is a full-time role.

Responsibilities

  • Enter, maintain, or manage data related to educational records, student information, educational grants, funding programs, scholarships, or other education-based programs.
  • Type routine materials such as reports, forms, correspondence, and memoranda.
  • File and retrieve documents in established filing systems.
  • Establish and maintain complex filing systems.
  • Schedule and calendar meetings, appointments, interviews, or conferences.
  • Conduct records searches in databases.
  • Enter data into computers.
  • Compile statistical data and prepare reports.
  • Format and produce charts, graphs, or tables using various software.
  • Sort, collate, and prepare documents for data entry.
  • Gather information, prepare, and process documents.
  • Type statistical data or technical reports.
  • Compose, draft, and finalize correspondence, memoranda, or other documents.
  • Create new files in systems.
  • Resolve minor problems in person, by phone, or through correspondence.
  • Proofread and/or edit documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, or format.
  • Update and correct information in automated systems.
  • Proofread data to verify its accuracy.
  • Prepare and update logs, file folders, and other documents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Proficiency in the following computer applications:
    • A computer
    • Microsoft Windows
    • Outlook
    • Word
    • Video conferencing (e.g., Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams)
  • Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute (wpm).
  • At least two years of full-time paid experience in one or more of the following work environments:
    • Court (federal, state, local)
    • Legal (attorney's office)
    • Government (other than court or law enforcement)
    • Law Enforcement
    • Jail or Detention Facility
    • Human Resources
    • Social Services
    • Accounting or Banking
    • Library
    • Information Systems
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends or holidays.
  • Willingness and ability to travel out-of-town if required.
  • Job-related licenses, registrations, certificates, or professional memberships (if applicable).

Experience

The following experience levels are preferred for this role:

  • Typing routine materials: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Filing and retrieving documents: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Establishing and maintaining complex filing systems: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Scheduling and calendaring: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Conducting records searches in databases: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Entering data in computers: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Compiling statistical data and preparing reports: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Formatting and producing charts, graphs, or tables: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Sorting, collating, and preparing documents for data entry: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Gathering information, preparing, and processing documents: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Typing statistical data or technical reports: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Composing, drafting, and finalizing correspondence: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Creating new files in systems: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Resolving minor problems: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Proofreading and/or editing documents: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Updating and correcting information in automated systems: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Proofreading data to verify accuracy: 2+ years full-time experience.
  • Preparing and updating logs, file folders, and other documents: 2+ years full-time experience.

Additional Considerations

Applicants will be evaluated on past drug usage, including but not limited to:

  • Marijuana
  • Cocaine/Crack
  • Methamphetamines/Speed
  • Heroin
  • Opium
  • Morphine
  • LSD/Acid
  • Peyote
  • Mescaline
  • Hashish
  • Steroids
  • Other illegal drugs or narcotics as defined in Title 13 of the Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS).
  • Illegal use of prescription drugs.

Any affirmative answers regarding past drug usage will require a full explanation, including details such as frequency, duration, and circumstances. These answers may be verified through a polygraph and will not automatically disqualify an applicant.

Applicants must also disclose any history of the following, which will be evaluated in relation to the position applied for:

  • Convictions related to sexual abuse.
  • Civil or administrative adjudications related to sexual misconduct or harassment.
  • Investigations or findings related to sexual abuse, staff sexual misconduct, or sexual harassment.
