About the role

Volunteer Desk Reporters help gather, verify, and synthesize information related to active wildfires and weather events. This includes monitoring multiple sources such as scanner traffic, fire cameras, official agency updates, user-submitted intel, and automated detections within NWTT.

Responsibilities

• Monitor multiple sources for active wildfires and weather events
• Confirm details and craft clear, accurate reports
• Work alongside other reporters in real time
• Reach our audience during critical moments

Requirements

Training, guidelines, and ongoing support are provided, and most volunteers grow into the role over time.
