About the role
The Designer - Transmission Line at QISG plays a crucial role in the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of power through high-voltage transmission infrastructure. This position involves designing, building, maintaining, and upgrading transmission lines, ensuring projects meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Work on design aspects from project inception to completion on various transmission line projects.
- Utilize 3D design software for transmission line design.
- Demonstrate knowledge of quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
- Research information in catalogs, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material.
- Learn and properly use the document management system and suggest improvements.
- Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices.
- Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
- Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associates degree in Drafting & Design is preferred.
- Experience in drafting disciplines with a background in civil / structural or transmission design is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the electric utility industry performing detailed CAD/design for high voltage transmission line projects.
- Experience with 3D design software (AutoCad Inventor, SDS, etc.) is preferred.
- Knowledge of various CADD programs.
- Basic knowledge of the major components of transmission lines.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
- Basic oral and written communications skills.
- Working in a team environment.
- Able to communicate effectively with co-workers.
- Able to deal with ambiguity and work independently, manage multiple tasks, and determine priorities in a complex environment.
