About the role

The Perkins&Will San Francisco Studio is expanding and seeks a talented and enthusiastic Designer III to join a dynamic design team. The ideal candidate will have 5-8+ years of experience and be a self-starter with strong project architect skills. Professionals with experience in highly technical projects and a strong interest in healthcare are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of project complexity to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.
  • Develops creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions while participating as an integral member of the design team.
  • Captures and coordinates drawings for schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
  • Analyzes product research and identifies material selections.
  • Takes an active role in crafting client and non-client design presentations and prepares corresponding materials.
  • Implements a creative approach to complete tasks and responsibilities on projects, within the scope of schedule and budget, in an organized, timely, and consistent way.
  • Reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
  • Supports growth of others.
  • Expresses curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large.
  • Takes increasing ownership on tasks within project teams and studio activities.
  • Participates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups. Keeps open and proactive communication with all and is inspiring within team and designated team leader.
  • Coordinates effectively with partners and consultants.

Requirements

High-level summary of critical, baseline technical skills and certifications:

  • Proficiencies in BIM, building codes, site analysis, preliminary design studies, contract documents, field measurements, life safety requirements, specifications, and sketching.
  • Knowledge of construction contract administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline required.
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience in one area of Living Design: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation.
  • Preparing for ARE and active involvement in AXP.

At the time of posting this job advertisement, the annual pay salary range for this position is between $88,000-$98,600 commensurate with qualifications, skillset and years of experience.
