About the Role

Perkins Eastman Chicago is searching for a talented design-focused Architectural Designer (Architect II) to engage, learn, and contribute to a vibrant studio culture. This position offers the opportunity to work on both domestic and international projects in practice areas such as Senior Living, Multi-family Residential, K-12, and Higher Education/Science & Tech, spanning various sizes and complexities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for high-quality design and strong analytical problem-solving skills within a collaborative process. The role requires adaptability to a variety of design priorities, styles, and project delivery methods, with a client-focused approach that embraces the unique vision of each project.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Project Manager/Senior Designer and assist in Master Planning, Site Planning, and Building Design exercises using 3D Modeling and Digital Presentation Packaging.
• Support the design team on projects from the Pre-Schematic Phase through Construction Documents.
• Prepare program and schematic proposals and develop designs in 3D using Revit and other modeling software for client review and approval.
• Assist or prepare presentation materials for client review.
• Meet with clients and present design concepts as needed.
• Follow a working process set by leadership to maintain design intent throughout the project duration.
• Coordinate the work of design consultants.
• Mentor junior staff.
• Adhere to established standards for project production and review.
• Apply working knowledge of exterior detailing to assist in preparing construction drawings and detailing to maintain design integrity.
• Prioritize and manage design time across multiple projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture is required.
• Minimum of 6 to 12 years of experience.
• Strong communication, graphic organization, technical, and written skills.
• Proficiency with design and presentation software such as Revit, Rhino, and Affinity Software Package; interest or proficiency in AI design support software is a plus.
• Proficiency with data management software such as Bluebeam, Word, and Excel.
• LEED Accreditation preferred.
• Architectural license required or on a path to licensure.

Pay

Salary range: $71,000 to $85,000. Compensation may vary based on job level and geographical work location.

Schedule

The firm has a hybrid policy that allows flexibility in managing working days and hours to cater to diverse needs.
