Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, design, and development of electrical drawings for various projects.
- Research to obtain detailed project and design criteria.
- Provide field support including field verifications for retrofit applications, as-built documentation, and installation supervision.
- Independently apply a working knowledge of electronics and/or electrical systems and computerized drafting methods to prepare various electrical drawings.
- Demonstrate the ability to draw complex electrical systems from sketches or specifications using appropriate symbology, terms, procedures, and drafting standards.
- Prepare bills of material.
- Resolve client comments.
- Prepare as-built drawings.
- Review manufacturer’s drawings and other discipline drawings.
- Communicate with the engineer and other disciplines to resolve any design problems.
- Advise, assist, and occasionally direct drafting personnel in performance of their assigned duties.
- Participate in field walk downs to obtain measurements, verify as-built documentation, and develop field sketches.
- Communicate with project engineers and other disciplines to develop drawings and resolve design discrepancies.
- Interface with the customer and their construction representatives to integrate designs to satisfy their standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in drafting, design or engineering technology or equivalent experience in the design of electrical and controls systems.
- Experience: 3 years (minimum) of experience in engineering drafting and familiarity with electrical design practices.
- Other Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office software; demonstrated ability to direct drafting personnel; proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation CAD software packages; effective time management skills; ability to pass security and drug screening; ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, working at height, carrying equipment up to 50 pounds, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous zones.
