Designer (contract)

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and revise sketches, working drawings, and contract documents using GIS software or manual drafting methods
• Prepare 2D and 3D models to support project design and engineering needs
• Perform transformer sizing, underground cable routing, and pole placement as part of system design
• Conduct field visits to residential, commercial, and construction sites to perform assessments and gather project data
• Check project management systems regularly for new customer contacts and project updates
• Read and comprehend detailed customer requirements, data sheets, and supplier specifications
• Prepare bills of material, schedules, and supporting documentation for design drawings
• Absorb and assist engineering personnel with formal drawing transmittals and construction issue resolution
• Participate in weekly scheduling meetings and team touchpoints to coordinate project progress
• Interact directly with customers to understand project needs and communicate design solutions

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members
• Solid organizational and project management abilities to handle multiple concurrent projects
• Basic electrical knowledge or background with familiarity in engineering concepts and terminology
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools, systems, and processes
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Comfort with a mix of field and office-based work, including travel to various project sites

Pay

Pay Rate Range 27.89 - 33.84 USD hourly
