Responsibilities
- Actively participates in the conceptual development of product lines.
- Responsible for the entire product design process, including market research, inspiration boards, jacquard and print development, sketching in 2D and 3D, presentations, fittings, and tech pack handoffs.
- Ensures the product aligns with market trends, business strategy, while maintaining the brand’s DNA.
- Researches competitors through in-store visits and presents findings and analysis to teams.
- Updates best sellers and invents next best seller products.
- Structures and designs high-perceived value products that meet price requirements and tell a compelling merchandising story.
- Attends design meetings, leads presentations, and works with cross-functional partners.
- Communicates design details through accurate, detailed flat sketches.
- Creates fabric, pattern, and body CADs, updates and modifies throughout the season.
- Participates in the design and development of new fabric innovations in both Cut & Sew Knits & Sweaters.
- Attends all WIP meetings to keep abreast of calendar milestones and actionable projects.
- Maintains complete tech packs in partnership with the Product Development team.
- Approves all lab-dips, knit-downs, strike-offs for development, as well as pre-production approvals for bulk.
- Occasional travel may be required domestically and internationally.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree (B.A) from a college or university, major in Design.
- 6+ years of design experience preferable in Men’s Sweaters and Cut & Sew Knitwear.
Skills
- High level of creativity with a passion for design.
- Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Ability to learn new computer technology including 3-D design and NEDGraphics.
- Knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, yarn, and stitch.
- Strong taste level with experience designing for full price and off-price markets.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to present in front of a diverse audience of cross-functional partners.
