About the role
The Designer position at Manitowoc Ice, a division of Pentair, is available in Manitowoc, WI. This role involves supporting the design, development, and continuous improvement of ice-making equipment and related systems. Ideal candidates should have foundational experience in electro-mechanical or industrial design and a strong interest in product development within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of electro-mechanical components and systems for commercial ice machines
- Create and update 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings
- Support product improvements, cost reductions, and design optimization initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain
- Participate in design reviews, testing, and validation of new products and features
- Troubleshoot design issues and support root cause analysis activities
- Ensure designs meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and bills of materials
Requirements
- Average of 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Design, or related experience in lieu of education within an engineering field
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, plastics, assembly, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Qualifications
- Preferred: Engineering Software Experience (SolidWorks, Creo, PDM systems)
- Preferred: Exposure to refrigeration systems
- Preferred: Exposure to design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA)
- Preferred: Exposure to prototype builds, testing, and validation
- Preferred: ERP Software Experience (Oracle, SAP)
Skills
- Engineering Software Experience (SolidWorks, Creo, PDM systems)
- Refrigeration Systems Experience (Highly Preferred but Not Required)
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) Experience
- Prototype Builds, Testing, and Validation Experience
- ERP Software Experience (Oracle, SAP)

Pay
The hourly pay for this role is $30.00/hr. Opportunity for a rate increase after proficiency in certain skills and fulfilling training requirements. Actual pay may vary depending on factors including achievements, skills, and experience.
Schedule
Shift/Position: 6:00 - 3:00pm or 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
