Designer 1 - Substation

Duties & Responsibilities

• Read and interpret physical designs for utility stations up to 500kV, including substation arrangements, sections, and elevations, foundation and grading plans, lighting plans and details, fence plans and details, grounding plans and details, rigid bus designs, strain bus designs, below grade designs to include duct banks and cable trenches, single phase transformer banks, bus and equipment support structures.
• Create/draft sections, details, and overviews for high voltage transformers, group operated disconnect switches, breakers, PTs, CCVTs, line turners, surge arresters, and other equipment within the substation with some assistance.
• Create grounding designs under the direction of a Lead Engineer.
• Implement written specifications on engineering drawings and coordinate with the protection and control design team for field equipment requiring electrical connections, and with the civil/structural team for foundations, structures, and drainage.
• Check designs for accuracy, appearance, and adherence to customer standards.
• Collaborate, communicate, and liaise effectively with other design disciplines.
• Visit sites to solve issues during engineering/construction.

  Requirements

  • 0-2 Year(s) experience in CAD 2D and 3D design
  • Proven Autocad and/or Microstation skills
