About the role
The ideal Designated Selling Associate (DSA) Salesperson is passionate about fashion, enjoys working one-on-one with customers, and thrives in a sales environment. DSAs drive volume for Nordstrom while championing the brand they represent. They are leaders in customer service, product knowledge, merchandising, and selling.
Responsibilities
- Set and achieve sales goals for both in-store and digital selling using effective selling tools (including text and social media) and reservations
- Build lasting relationships with customers
- Provide exceptional service tailored to customers' needs, occasionally performing duties in other departments or brands as required
- Offer honest and confident feedback to customers about style, fit, and wardrobe value
- Seek fashion and product knowledge through meetings and trainings to build expertise
- Build relationships with other DSAs, Stylists, and surrounding departments by conducting product knowledge meetings
- Provide valid product feedback to District Managers (DM) to improve store assortments
- Drive predictable business through appointment-based selling during event and non-event timeframes
- Maintain a customer-ready department through stocking, re-merchandising, display, price markdowns, merchandise transfers, and cleaning
- Grow sales by opening new Nordstrom Rewards program accounts
Requirements

- Ability to read and interpret sales reporting in relation to goals
- Skill in educating customers on new and emerging brands, suggesting items that suit their needs
- Confidence with a range of price points and ability to showcase the value of items in completing a wardrobe
- Strong understanding of customers' holistic wardrobe and style, with high organizational skills to strategically follow up and advise on wardrobe completion
Physical Requirements
- Continuous movement for 6-8 hours per shift, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching to handle merchandise and assist customers
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- Handling bulky and awkwardly shaped items, including reaching above the head to lift them
- Regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds
Pay
Hourly pay range: $19.95 - $19.95 (varies by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience).
Commission varies based on merchandise sold: Apparel, shoes, and accessories sales typically range from 3% to 14.5%. Beauty and Men’s Fragrance sales typically receive a 3% commission.
