About the role
The Design Supervisor is responsible for the training and development of the design team, driving sales for Floor and Decor, and ensuring customers have a positive sales experience through exceptional design services.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain lasting relationships with residential and professional customers in the industry.
- Hire and develop a dynamic and motivated design team, including conducting performance evaluations.
- Greet store customers and support walk-in design needs.
- Maintain the master store design appointment calendar and schedule appointments for existing and potential customers, developing clientele through networking, referrals, and in-store leads.
- Provide advice on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects.
- Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
- Manage multiple customer projects simultaneously with high accuracy, timeliness, and follow-up, including consistent communication.
- Use company communication tools and emails proficiently and consistently.
- Collaborate with store leadership to manage projects from inquiry to installation and achieve sales goals.
- Support company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices.
- Maintain the Design Center and company visual standards.
- Stay engaged with current and emerging design trends in your market.
- Utilize design applications such as Salesforce, proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyProject, James Martin, and HousPro.
- Participate in local professional affiliations like ASID, NKBA.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Design education (BA or AA in Interior Design) or 6 years of interior design experience in lieu of education or a combination of education and experience equal to 6 years.
- 3-5 years of leadership or management experience.
- Knowledge of hard surface flooring preferred.
- Proficient in basic mathematical skills.
- Self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite.
- Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a Sr. designer position, ADM role, or higher.
Working Conditions
- Limited travel required, including car travel.
- Frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.
- Moderate to noisy work environment.
Physical/Sensory Requirements
- Medium Work – Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle or feel.
- Occasional standing, walking, reaching with arms and hands, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Schedule
- Store Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
- Pickup Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
