About the role

We are seeking a Design/Development Release Engineer specializing in Vehicle Access and Key Authentication Electronic Control Unit (ECU) modules. In this role, you will collaborate with product design/release engineers, external suppliers, and various internal support groups to specify, develop, and qualify components for production. You will serve as a key technical bridge, interfacing with EE Systems groups to define vehicle-level functional specifications, working with vehicle packaging teams, and collaborating with the Product Design Office to define first-surface components.

Responsibilities

  • Specification & Design: Develop component-level specifications and review component DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis).
  • Program Management: Participate in Product Assurance Planning and manage suppliers to ensure all vehicle program milestones are successfully met.
  • Validation & Compliance: Deliver DVRR (Design Validation and Reliability Report) and complete all applicable compliance reports.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in Reactive Quality Problem Solving and support Supplier Quality during Process Sign-off (PS) and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) reviews.
  • Manufacturing Support: Provide plant support as needed (travel may be required).

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience developing automotive Vehicle Access systems.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage, prioritize, and direct multiple products and suppliers simultaneously.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Working knowledge of CAN, CAN FD, and Ethernet networks, along with associated analytical tools.
    • Experience with RF/Wireless systems and component design.
    • Knowledge of molding and packaging processes.
  • Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace applications.
  • Professional Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated leadership capabilities to effectively lead supplier teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma or Shainin certification.
  • Deep knowledge of electronic product manufacturing processes.
