Essential Criteria
The Design Quality Engineer is a key role within the Studio Craftsmanship team and is responsible for ensuring that the design execution of Class-A products meets customer commitments for vehicles and accessories. They are also responsible for harmonizing the vehicle and accessories to enhance the Company's offerings.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of program timelines
- Participation in design reviews
- Effective communication
- Review moulded parts pre-grain to ensure mold quality
- Provide visual documentation of issues related to mold prior to grain approval
- Work with supplier/engineer to address issues found
- Review and validate Pre-Grain Approval Sheet from supplier
- Sign off document to start graining of tool
- Assess all AAR parts (wrapped, painted, chrome, MIC, etc.) to ensure visual targets and dimensional stability
- Maintain a record of all parts submitted for grain approval and AAR
- Provide visual documentation of issues related to AAR parts
- Work with supplier/engineer to address issues found
- Support on-site at supplier to help root cause issues as needed
- Work closely with CMF Design and Mastering for clear “plaque-to-part” scaling
Qualifications
- 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree
- Candidate must have injection moulded/tooling experience and/or a minimum of 6-8 years of direct AAR experience
- This particular candidate needs to be able to add immediate value with the experience
- 5 years minimum of automotive experience
- Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve results
- Hold high standards for quality, attention to detail, and build strong relationships with other team members
- Self-motivated, flexible, adaptable to change, and able to work independently
- Ability to manage multiple parallel-path projects
- Experience with report writing and time management
- Experience with MS Office
- Comfortable with change and flexible in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Tooling experience is a plus
