Design Quality Control Engineer

Job Description

Aid the Professional Services Quality Control Manager (PSQCM) in implementing and following quality control procedures and quality review standards as outlined in the approved Professional Services Quality Management Plan (PSQMP).

• Update the PSQMP as needed or required by the contract.
• Train and conduct workshops for all personnel involved in or affected by the PSQMP.
• Oversight the implementation of the PSQMP.
• Ensure adherence to the methods and procedures contained in the approved PSQMP.
• Verify the accuracy, completeness, and quality of submittals to TxDOT and governmental entities.
• Certify that design submittal packages and design changes comply with the PSQMP and contract documents.
• Create quality records documenting the QC review of the 3-D design models of submittals.
• Coordinate with the Project Technical Office management on drawings and revisions.
• Incorporate changes made through the Request for Information (RFI) process into record drawings.
• Communicate with TxDOT and the Professional Services Quality Assurance Firm (PSQAF) regarding quality control.
• Coordinate with the PSQAF.
• Maintain quality control of the project according to the Quality Management Plan.
• Perform audits.
• Prepare required quality-related reports.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Science, or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required at hire or to be obtained shortly thereafter.
• 3 or more years of experience in related roles or in heavy civil engineering capacity.
• Possession of ASQ certification and Professional Engineer licensure preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 concepts preferred.
• Valuable computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam Revu, PowerPoint, databases, and document control systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and coordination skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
