About the role

This is a new role dedicated to ensuring a successful start to large complex projects (e.g., Design-Build), with continued support throughout the life of individual projects. The QAM will also support the larger Michael Baker Quality Program implementation, continuous improvement and inspection activities as instructed by the Quality Director.

Responsibilities

  • Development of the Project Quality Plan
  • Establishment of project quality governance
  • Independent verification of quality processes throughout design and construction
  • Supporting the recruitment and interviewing of the Project Quality Manager (PQM)
  • Transitioning quality execution responsibility to the Project Quality Manager after plan development
  • Monitoring, measuring, and reporting on all project specific quality management activities
  • Developing project specific quality plans and facilitating training to project teams
  • Overseeing development and implementation of an organizational and responsibility matrix for the Quality team
  • Developing regular status reports for assigned projects including key metrics, project quality status, client satisfaction, lessons learned and risk look ahead
  • Providing Quality Management Leadership supporting the continuous improvement of the Michael Baker Way, Michael Baker corporate quality practices, quality process mapping, quality governance structure, automation and lessons learned improvements
  • Building quality related training materials for different audiences
  • Actively participating and leading quality initiatives as part of the corporate quality team
  • Acting in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on meeting or exceeding customer requirements and expectations
  • Participating in industry, client, and community relations to enhance and promote Michael Baker International

Requirements

  • 15 + years of industry or related experience (will consider specific responsibilities in lieu of years’ experience)
  • Accredited Degree (or equivalent) in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Specific experience with Design and Design Quality Management on large and/or Design Build projects is preferred
  • Experience with State Department of Transportation and/or Federal Horizontal/Vertical Design projects will also be considered
  • Quality management certification(s) such as ASQ’s Certified Quality Manager, or the US Army Corps of Engineers certified Quality Manager
  • Demonstrated experience in the Architect/Engineering/Construction field including project/program management, project quality management, and/or design experience
  • Experience authoring and/or leading quality processes/plans including audits
  • Experience with Design-Build projects
  • Preferred experience with State Department of Transportation or Federal clients
  • Strong technical proficiency in Quality-related areas, including ISO 9001, ACI, ASME, PMI, ASQ, related legislation, auditing, and data analysis
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects, measure and report to leadership and support process standardization/improvement
  • Ability to make recommendations, make proactive decisions, and act based on technical proficiency
  • Proven relationship-building and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders in a team environment
  • Superior leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, solve problems, and motivate others, while maintaining effective relationships with internal & external customers
  • Superior presentation skills and verbal / written communication skills

Pay

The approximate compensation range for this position $125,000 - $190,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
