Summary
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Design Phase Manager II to lead the design phase of projects, ensuring alignment with customer expectations, financial performance, and construction readiness.
Responsibilities
- Overall project leadership during the design phase, focusing on customer experience, financial performance, schedule, estimating, and planning.
- Lead the project team in achieving scope and budget alignment, schedule alignment, and construction readiness.
- Establish and manage project budgets and scope expectations, and oversee budget trending logs and communications.
- Create and supervise project schedules and key achievements, and hold team members accountable for these achievements.
- Ensure regulatory approvals and permits are obtained, and align design documents with project execution plans.
- Develop project margin plans and act as the primary point of contact with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners.
- Monitor and measure project success factors for various stakeholders.
- Foster an integrated team experience through communication and collaboration.
- Manage, mentor, and guide design phase team members to ensure clear direction and career growth.
- Work effectively with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels, and lead by example.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience.
- Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Detail-oriented sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
- Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management, and pertinent web applications.
- Positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
- Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback.
- Ability to travel up to 100%.

Pay Information
The base pay range for this role is $132,100 MIN - $198,200 MAX. Actual range varies based on office location.
