Design Manager
About the role
This role is responsible for leading the design and preconstruction process, bringing together owners, engineers, trade partners, and internal teams to develop solutions that are aligned, constructible, and built for success. You won’t just coordinate design—you will own the integration of scope, schedule, cost, and risk, ensuring decisions are made at the right time and teams are working together toward a common goal.
Responsibilities
- Play a critical leadership role at the front end of our most complex projects, shaping how work is planned, developed, and delivered.
- Lead the design and preconstruction process, bringing together owners, engineers, trade partners, and internal teams to develop solutions that are aligned, constructible, and built for success.
- Own the integration of scope, schedule, cost, and risk, ensuring decisions are made at the right time and teams are working together toward a common goal.
- Think ahead, challenge assumptions, and drive outcomes, directly impacting project performance.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in design management, preconstruction, project management, or EPC project delivery in power, renewables, or heavy industrial project environments.
- Proven ability to lead design and preconstruction phases of complex construction projects.
- Experience coordinating with engineering firms, architects, and construction teams.
- Strong understanding of scope, cost, schedule, and constructability integration.
- Experience with risk management, contract development, and procurement strategy.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive alignment across stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to facilitate, challenge, and influence decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
Qualifications
- Nice to have experience with Target Value Design (TVD) or Lean design practices.
- Nice to have professional certifications (PE, RA, DBIA).
- Nice to have background in both project execution and preconstruction/design phases.

Pay
The anticipated salary range for this position is $108,000 - $143,000 annually. This information reflects the anticipated base salary for this position based on current market data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual’s skills, experiences, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
Schedule
Up to 75% travel for meetings and client needs.
