Design Lecturer Pool - Motion Design and/or Interaction Design
About the role
The Department of Design at San José State University seeks an experienced and creative instructor to teach graphic design, motion design, and user interaction design. The successful candidate will have a terminal degree (MFA or MDes) or one semester of teaching design at a degree-granting institution. They should have three or more years of professional experience in design practice and demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to a diverse student population.
Responsibilities
- Teach studio and/or lecture courses in graphic design, motion design, and user interaction design at the undergraduate level.
- Participate in sophomore, junior, and senior level portfolio reviews each semester.
- Share undergraduate student review responsibilities.
- Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Teach in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes.
Requirements
- Demonstrated familiarity and ability to teach graphic design, motion design, and user interaction design.
- An understanding of motion design and/or interaction design within historical, socio-cultural, economic, and technological contexts.
- A command of image making and visual exploration.
- Experience teaching at a degree-granting institution.
- A terminal degree (MFA or MDes).
- Three or more years of professional experience in design practice.

- An awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.
Skills

- Experience participating in portfolio reviews.
Benefits
Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. The anticipated starting salary ranges from $5507 - $10347 per month, depending on the rank.
