Design Lead
About the role
At Spin Master, we're looking for a Design Lead with expertise in developing Kids/Family games and puzzles. This role involves executing concepts from ideation through the entire development cycle, leading projects with minimal guidance, and working closely with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Brainstorm, ideate, sketch, and create concept boards and mockups focusing on innovation and supporting brand strategy and consumer needs.
- Create artwork for game components and puzzles using industry software tools.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on various games and puzzle formats addressing all aspects of product development for licensed, non-licensed, and owned IP brands.
- Maintain a consistently high level of quality, thoroughness, and attention to detail, ensuring integrity of design in final deliverables.
- Effectively communicate project-related progress, issues, or concerns to the team and to Project Management in a timely and professional manner.
- Interact with multiple licensors, understand briefs, and navigate assets and processes as necessary to facilitate product development and licensor approval process.
Requirements
- Command of industry design software to draw and illustrate (Photoshop / Illustrator/ Sketchbook Pro / InDesign).
- Understanding of file setup and requirements needed for print-ready graphics production for game boards, cards, instructions, and puzzles artwork.
- Experience with specification documenting, creating accurate specs with manufacturing considerations in mind, and collaborating with Product Development for costing and engineering issues.
- Knowledge of the product life cycle, having completed many rounds and understanding how schedule influences each stage.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and understanding of their capabilities within the category.
Qualifications
- Passion for games and a strong desire to innovate.
- Strong familiarity with general game mechanisms and the functions that make a game work to construct new games and mechanics.
- Experience with play testing games and identifying issues.
- Familiarity with rules writing and laying out instructions with the user interface as a primary focus.
- Ability to present toy and game concepts in a clear and engaging manner to stakeholders.
Skills

Benefits
The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in New York City is $100,000 to $120,000 per annum. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors including years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
